It’s not just about airspace clearance—our flights must comply with federal aviation laws, municipal bylaws, privacy regulations, and property rights. Even if airspace is unrestricted, launching from public or private land without permission may still be illegal under local laws.
Beyond compliance, we actively monitor air traffic using professional-grade tools like Flight Radar, CFS maps, and live ATC transmissions to ensure safe and coordinated operations. This is a legally accountable commercial service, not just a camera in the sky.
Flight Info & Privacy Mandate
Ensure all relevant parties understand that this is a professional, insured operation for real estate marketing. Interruptions during a flight are dangerous—please communicate this in advance to avoid issues.
Be Flexible With the Forecast
Our West Coast weather is unpredictable, with sudden rain and wind. Aerial shoots may need flexibility—we might return later in the day if conditions change. Thanks for working with us!
Have It "Open-House Ready"
Prepare the home as if it’s an Open House. Move cars, clear debris, and hide anything visible from the ground—if you can see it, the drone can too. We can’t stop mid-flight to move objects.

Operating a drone for real estate isn’t just about having clearance to fly—it requires compliance with federal aviation laws, municipal regulations, and insurance policies that go far beyond what a hobbyist drone operator considers.
Most flights take place in controlled, high-traffic airspace, meaning we share the skies with commercial airlines, floatplanes, helicopters, and even military aircraft en-route to base. But airspace clearance is only part of the equation. Just because a location allows drone flights in the air doesn’t mean the municipality allows you to launch from the ground. Many public spaces prohibit drone takeoffs, even if the airspace itself is unrestricted. That means while a 250-gram drone might technically be legal to fly, launching it from a restricted area is still unlawful and could result in fines—not from Transport Canada, but from local bylaw enforcement.
As the Realtor hiring a professional aerial media provider, you are responsible for ensuring that all applicable laws—federal, municipal, and property-specific—are followed. Violations, whether related to aviation safety, privacy, or nuisance laws, don’t just affect the pilot; they can impact your brokerage’s reputation and liability as well.

No incidents. We’ve had our drone stuck only 3 times in 6+ years on tree branches. An arborist was called once for a tree 40 feet high. That’s it. We take our flights & safety extremely seriously and only push our equipment — and “risk it for the shot” — in an extremely controlled environment such as someone’s heavily forested backyard. We use various paid-subscriptions to live Flight tracking & to monitor ATC transmissions when applicable. We seek clarity from Transport Canada directly, and work respectfully in accordance to all controlled airspace, municipal bylaws, and federal requirements to ensure privacy and safety for citizens, air traffic, & wildlife.
